How to make a QR code

Paste your link. A URL, plain text, a phone number or a Wi-Fi string all work. The code is built in your browser as you type, so nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Tune it. Choose an error correction level, set colours that keep enough contrast to scan, pick square, rounded or dot modules, and leave the quiet zone at 4 modules unless you have a reason not to.

Export it. PNG at 512, 1024 or 2048 px for screens and slides, or SVG for print, where it stays sharp at any size.

A QR code carries text, so the trick is using the string format phones recognise. Select one to load it into the generator, then edit the details.

Longer content needs a denser grid, so a vCard produces a bigger code than a short link. Keep the printed size generous if you use one.

Do the codes expire?

No. These are static QR codes: the link is encoded in the pattern itself, so there is no redirect service in the middle that can lapse or start charging.

Should I use PNG or SVG for printing?

SVG. It is vector, so it stays crisp at any size, from a business card to a banner. Use PNG at 2048 px when the printer insists on a raster file.

Which error correction level should I pick?

Level M is the sensible default. Go to Q or H if the code will be printed small, placed outdoors, or partly covered by a logo, since higher levels let more of the pattern be damaged and still scan.

Can I change the colours?

Yes, within reason. Keep dark modules on a light background and watch the contrast readout: scanners need roughly 3:1 or better, and inverted codes fail on many phones.

Are my links stored anywhere?

No. Codes are generated entirely in your browser, and anything you save to the library stays in that browser local storage on your own device.
